What You Should Know About Me, My Blog & My Journey

I’m going to let you in on my little secret …much like being lost in the woods, when I began this blog I had very little direction and absolutely no idea where I’d end up.
All I knew was that I had a sudden need to express myself through writing and the more posts I published, the more I wanted to write.

Early on, once I got my blog up and running, there was a flurry of inspired activity in an attempt to find my way.  As the months flew by I continued to churn out content at an astonishing rate, surpassing even my own expectations.

When the flurry of activity slowed the confusion started to set in.  Where am I going?  What is my blog even about?  Eventually, I recognized the reality of my situation – I was lost.

You see, I love writing my blog, sharing my stories, experiences and thoughts with others.  But as I thought more about what I want my blog to be about, what my style is or which niche I should mold myself in to, I couldn’t help but feel I was forcing a circle in to a square.  I was trying to box myself in.

What I really enjoy, and have become rather passionate about, is not so much being a blogger but the writing itself.  It’s the crafting sentences, creating the article that brings me satisfaction and a sense of completion.  The feeling of my fingers typing out thoughts as they come to mind, sometimes effortlessly and sometimes forcibly dragged from the deep, dark recesses of my non-cooperative brain.

The cool part of this is that I've haphazardly stumbled across my path.  I can see where I am going now.  My blog was the start of my journey.  My practice and introduction, if you like, to freelance writing.   That's what I want to do.  I don’t have to box myself in to a niche or be the expert in anything.  Nor do I have to be a social media guru or a famous influencer (which is lucky because I reckon I’d fail spectacularly at that!).  I can simply learn, create, write, refine, sell …repeat.

We all know nothing comes without a little effort, a sprinkle of planning and a crap load of intention and action.  And so, I’m kick starting things off with a couple of writing courses and I plan to build a portfolio and a neat little side hustle.

Why am I telling you all this?  I’m very grateful for all of you who follow me and who supported me early on.  Needless to say, my blog will also undergo change and if you didn’t know about my current journey then you would wonder why the hell I'm suddenly posting random articles or pitching sales copy about things I don’t sell.

First things first, study.  Learn, learn, learn.  My future posts may include learning exercises from my course(s) and eventually, hopefully some well developed content worth keeping and adding to my future portfolio.

Expect nothing less than a documented journey via my blog, as I carve out a path to creating a healthy side hustle that I enjoy.  When I’m brave enough, I’ll mix up my site to show off my portfolio as it grows in to my own little piece of art.

For now, it’s all about learning a new craft and honing new skills.  Who knows, maybe one day you’ll need me to write something for you!
